AHL Corten steel grills, stoves span a wide range of sizes, shapes and styles, all made of a variety of durable materials designed to last. Recently, we chose CorT-Ten steel as our material and we wanted to share with you here why we love it!
Corten-steel grills and stoves are our year-round must-have outdoor entertainment, a great place for barbecue parties on summer nights, and a cozy place to keep warm on cold autumn nights.
With an increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion, it often lasts much longer than other materials.Coeten steel has a thin layer of metal oxide on its surface that does not compromise the integrity of the metal itself (like normal rust).
This layer protects the metal, ensuring that it retains its strength and life without suffering the gradual corrosion that occurs with mild steel and iron. In addition, the protective layer can repair and regenerate itself, requiring little maintenance. Leave it outside, no matter what the weather!
The protective coating of rust over the metal means there’s no need for painting or costly rust-prevention work. That protective coating also slows the rate of future corrosion.
The dark brown or bronze color of weathering steel makes it so recognizable that it has become a unique style, with artists and engineers competing to apply its bold color and weather resistance to sculptural and architectural uses.A naturally occurring oxidation process means the steel develops a patina with time. It just gets better with age!
